By Colin Rhoads
Format
MSI takes a whole new look this year with a new format, more games, and more on the line for international competitions. The 2021 Mid-Season Invitational’s group stage will commence on Thursday, May 6 at 8am CT in Iceland. The group stage will compose of best-of-one round robins with the top two teams from each group advancing to the rumble stage. The six teams will compete in a double round-robin in the rumble on May 14. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals on May 21 and 22.
Prizing
While Worlds takes the cake for the biggest event of the year, MSI could now influence a region’s performance. The winner of MSI 2021 will grant that team’s region an additional team spot at Worlds. Oh and not to mention the over $1,000,000 prize pool.
